Rumah Bahasa Surabaya

Yep! It's kinda little too late to write about Rumah Bahasa Surabaya. Pardon me, because it just personal reason. Well, let me begin this page to inform you about the background of Rumah Bahasa. Rumah Bahasa is the program from Surabaya City Government (lead by Mayor Tri Rismaharini) to face ASEAN Economic Community 2015. Here we provide self improvement in terms of language skills, computer, and also more knowledge about Labor, investment, trade and cooperation. Because next year we believe that more free flow labor, products, and service will come to Surabaya and other area in Indonesia and ASEAN countries. This is GREAT idea by Surabaya City Government to prepare the people to be ready and steady about next year condition. Plus, this program is totally FREE!

Rumah Bahasa held on 4th February 2014. After seven month from it opened we already have more than ten thousands participants. 250 volunteer and we have 8 different languages. As one of the staff of Surabaya City Government and also one of the person in charge at Rumah Bahasa, I feel blessed and fortunate because of everyday I meet new person, new friends, and also new problems (in term of bureaucracy). Well, I think that if we work in Government especially in Indonesia you will underestimate with what I called "Glembosi". And that was 100 % TRUE. But not for me, because I always manage my time to more useful and avoid that "glembosi". So I can mention that my Boss always said myself that I'm the manager of Rumah Bahasa. But for me, as new comer in this area of work I try to keep humble and don't want to mention this manager position. I prefer as "staff" in Rumah Bahasa. Though my duty in here is almost in all round area (looking for volunteer, participants, manage the operating stuffs). So I am always moving from one side to another side of job. But that problems make me so skillful and I fortunate that all problems finally finish.

Rumah Bahasa not only focus on language training or language mastering. But we also provide another information such as information about ASEAN, about trading and investments and also about cultural differences. Another positive side from Rumah Bahasa and we sholud proud with it is The Volunteer is not paid even only one sen. They dedicate their time to share about knowledge and also skill. We also have Teacher from native speaker. They usually foreign students who came in Indonesia to follow exchange program. We open from Monday till Sunday. Start from 9 am till 9 pm. So, if you really interest with this program and also want to give another contribution to elevate our knowledge I challenge you to joint this program. Let's share if you care.
